DWAI Collaborates to Provide Menstrual Support to 312 Girls with Disabilities
DWAI collaborated with Alone, Not Lonely Women with Disabilities Initiative (ANLWWDI) under the #PadAGirlWithDisability initiative to provide sanitary pads to 312 girls with disabilities across three special-needs schools in the FCT.
Deaf Women Aloud Initiative (DWAI) collaborated with the Alone, Not Lonely Women with Disabilities Initiative (ANLWWDI) through the #PadAGirlWithDisability initiative to support girls with disabilities experiencing menstrual poverty.
The initiative reached 312 young girls with disabilities across the FCT School of the Blind, School of Special Needs Kuje, and FCT School of the Deaf Kuje.
At the FCT School of the Deaf Kuje, DWAI contributed to the initiative by supporting the launch of a Pad Bank, providing a more sustainable source of menstrual hygiene products for Deaf girls in the school.
The initiative aimed to promote menstrual dignity, reduce the impact of period poverty, and ensure that girls with disabilities have access to essential menstrual hygiene products.
DWAI appreciates ANLWWDI and all individuals and supporters who contributed to making the initiative possible and remains committed to advancing the rights, dignity, health, and inclusion of Deaf women and girls.
Together, we can build a society where disability does not become a barrier to dignity and basic needs.
